What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic care is a drug-free, non-surgical approach to healing and wellness. Chiropractic is highly beneficial in improving symptoms like back pain, knee pain, and personal injury related pain, but it is much more than that. Chiropractic care helps restore health and prevents injury by improving the structural integrity of the body and spine. The brain communicates with the rest of the body through the spinal cord and nervous system. When functioning perfectly, this communication is uninterrupted, and the messages go to and from the brain with maximum efficiency. This aides normal health as well as a highly functioning body and immune system.
Addressing the Root of the Problem
The nervous system serves as the body's wiring. If this wiring is compressed, the brain's messaging does not reach the intended body part, and symptoms or illness may result. Such interference or compressions can occur anywhere along your spine. Pain in your arm or hand may actually be caused by a problem in your neck, where the nerves connecting to that hand originate. A qualified chiropractor can examine the spine for interference and remove them through controlled techniques.
Eliminate Low Back Pain
Millions of Americans suffer from chronic low back pain and we know it can be one of the most frustrating experiences. If you are hurting with lower back pain chances are it is affecting your work life, your ability to get things done at home, and even your mood with loved ones. We understand and we have been there. Our chiropractor is trained to determine the cause of your back pain and work with you to quickly control your pain and then eliminate it whenever possible. If you will give us some time and effort toward recovery we will help you eliminate your lower back pain.
The First Step To Recovery
Chiropractic care is beneficial for everyone, but in order for us to find out how much we can help a prospective patient we first need to learn more about your particular pain or injury. When first visiting Parkway Wellness Center for you will sit down with the doctor discuss the nature of your pain or injury. The doctor will consult with you and perform a brief examination. If needed the doctor will order x-rays of the affected area.
Our Chiropractic staff employs a wide range of proven techniques for each individual case. Below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the popular chiropractic techniques we use at our practice.
Corrective Care Chiropractic
Parkway Wellness Center specializes in delivering corrective care chiropractic. What does that mean? Well, much like traditional chiropractic, spinal adjustments are performed. However, our doctor uses very specific adjustments to re-train the spinal column back into the direction of correction. This means that many times, spinal abnormalities caused by trauma or posture can be restored back to the normal position and shape over time with appropriate treatment and home care. More importantly, as correction is achieved symptom relief occurs not just for weeks or months, but for years. Corrective care chiropractic is the culmination of several approaches or techniques in chiropractic including Chiropractic Biophysics and The Pettibon System.
A Gentle Approach to Chiropractic
Our clinic employs approaches to chiropractic which are perfect for patients who are leery of a traditional adjustment but still want the effectiveness that chiropractic delivers. We utilize gentle techniques as appropriate to ensure your maximum comfort and benefit. This includes approaches like the drop table adjustments, Arthrostim gentle adjusting instrument, muscle release therapy, and spinal decompression treatment.
Drop table technique makes use of specialized drop-piece mechanisms in the table to assist the adjustment. Individual cushions or "drop pieces" located along the table support each area of the spine until the thrust is given. Then, each drop-piece gently gives way, reducing the pressure needed to move a specific spinal segment. This method is used with some of our patients who require a gentler approach towards adjustments.
The Arthrostim is an adjusting instrument used to help restore the shape of the spine and shift individual vertebrae using repetitive impulses at a particular frequency. This allows for gentle adjusting that is highly effective. The Arthrostim is also used to aid in muscle strains and soft tissue based problems including frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, and chronic upper back pain.
Whether your condition was caused by an injury, a car accident, or if it just gradually developed, we welcome the chance to serve you.
